India is set to commence exports of halal meat and its products to 15 Muslim-majority countries, starting October 16, 2024. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) officially notified the policy conditions on Tuesday, outlining the requirements for halal certification.

Under the new regulations, specified meat and related products will only be exported to these countries if they are produced, processed, and packaged in facilities certified under the ‘India Conformity Assessment Scheme (I-CAS) – Halal’ of the Quality Council of India (QCI).

The 15 nations receiving these halal exports include Bahrain, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Malaysia, Jordan, Oman, the Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Turkey, and the UAE.
