For the first time, India has surpassed Japan to claim the third position in Asia’s power rankings, according to the Asia Power Index 2024 released by Australia’s Lowy Institute. The index ranks 27 countries and territories based on factors such as military strength, economic performance, diplomatic influence, and cultural impact.
India’s rise in the rankings reflects its growing influence in the region, supported by its vast population, large economy, and strategic position. However, the report also points out that India has yet to fully realize its potential as a major power.
