Indian Shooting Coach Samresh Jung Reaches Home From Olympics, Gets House Demolition Notice

National pistol shooting coach Samresh Jung, fresh from guiding Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh to bronze medals at the Paris Olympics, returned to a demolition notice for his house and locality. The notice, issued by the Land and Development Office (LNDO) of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, states that the Khyber Pass locality in Delhi’s Civil Lines area, where Jung resides, is on land belonging to the Ministry of Defence and is therefore illegal.

Jung, an Olympian and Arjuna Awardee, expressed shock and dismay at the sudden announcement, which gave residents only two days to vacate. He shared that his family has lived in the area for 75 years and appealed for more time, citing the impracticality of packing up and leaving within such a short period. Despite a court petition, the demolition was upheld.

Jung took to social media to voice his frustration, tagging key government officials and appealing for at least two months to vacate. The demolition drive, initiated last month, follows a Delhi High Court ruling affirming the land’s status as belonging to the Ministry of Defence.
