Indonesian authorities have arrested a 26-year-old man, ESH, for allegedly impersonating a woman and marrying another man for financial gain. The groom, identified as AK, reportedly met ESH, who went by the alias Adinda Kanza, online in 2023. The couple dated for a year before marrying in a private ceremony on April 12th, 2024.

Love gone wrong! Bride, a Con!

Throughout their courtship, ESH wore a traditional Muslim niqab, a veil that conceals the face, which AK believed was a sign of religious devotion. However, after the wedding, AK became suspicious due to his wife’s constant avoidance of physical intimacy and reluctance to interact with his family.

Further raising red flags, ESH claimed to have no living relatives. AK eventually discovered ESH’s home address and, to his shock, found his supposed wife’s parents alive and well. The parents revealed ESH had been cross-dressing since 2020 and expressed disbelief about their son’s marriage.

Police, who are still investigating, believe ESH used a feminine voice and demeanor to maintain the deception. After confessing to marrying AK to steal his family’s money, ESH now faces fraud charges and potential imprisonment for up to four years.
