Instagram Reportedly Removes Pro-Israel Response To Viral ‘All Eyes On Rafah’ Campaign

Instagram has taken down an Israeli campaign responding to the viral “All Eyes on Rafah” social media initiative, which criticized Israel’s military actions in the southern Gaza city of Rafah. The decision has sparked controversy, with accusations of bias and censorship against the platform.

Instagram’s Gaza post controversy!

The pro-Israel campaign, created by Benjamin Jamon, featured an AI-generated image captioned “Where were your eyes on October 7?”

The image depicted an armed Hamas terrorist standing in front of a small, red-haired baby, referencing one-year-old Kfir Bibas, who was allegedly taken hostage by Hamas during their attack on Israeli towns on October 7.

This attack resulted in numerous casualties and prompted Israel’s offensive against Hamas in Gaza. The “All Eyes on Rafah” campaign, also an AI-generated image, showed tents in the desert with the caption and was shared over 45 million times within 24 hours, including by high-profile celebrities like Gigi and Bella Hadid, Mark Ruffalo, and Jenna Ortega.

In contrast, Jamon’s image was shared around half a million times before being removed by Instagram, which also blocked his account.

The removal has led to outrage among pro-Israel supporters, who accuse Instagram of double standards and suppressing efforts to highlight the suffering of Israeli victims and hostages from the October 7 attacks.

Critics argue that while the “All Eyes on Rafah” campaign remains widely visible, the disappearance of the pro-Israel response image reveals a biased approach to content moderation by the platform.
