There are swirling media reports suggesting that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is leaning towards appointing Muhammad Rizwan as the captain of the Pakistan T20I side following a dismal performance from Shaheen Afridi’s Lahore Qalandars in PSL 9.

Despite Shaheen Afridi’s successful leadership in the previous two HBL PSL seasons, Lahore Qalandars’ performance in the ongoing season has been far from satisfactory. With only one victory and a bottom-of-the-table finish, concerns have arisen regarding Shaheen’s leadership capabilities.
The newly appointed PCB chairman, Mohsin Naqvi has been inundated with suggestions advocating for a change in captaincy, citing Shaheen’s age and maturity as potential factors affecting his leadership. However, there are conflicting opinions within the board with some members expressing reservations about making such a significant decision so close to the upcoming World Cup.
They fear that a sudden change could disrupt the team’s dynamics and adversely impact their performance in the tournament.
