Islamabad Court Rejects Imran Khan’s Plea Seeking Suspension Of His Arrest Warrant In Toshakhana Case

In a recent development, an Islamabad district and sessions court dismissed the plea of Imran Khan, the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), seeking suspension of his arrest warrant in the Toshakhana case. Imran Khan is accused of misusing luxury cars belonging to the government and foreign donors.

Imran Khan’s lawyers argued that the arrest warrant was issued without following proper legal procedures and that their client was not given a fair chance to defend himself. The decision comes as a setback for Imran Khan and his political party, which has been struggling with a number of challenges in recent months.

In a written judgment, the ECP shared the details of the case sighting, “As per the statement of Khan he had purchased the gifts from Toshakhana paying 21.564 million rupees while the Cabinet Division said that the gifts had a value of 107.943 million.”

“The amount in his bank account was around half of the value of the state gifts. Imran Khan was bound to declare the cash and bank details in his returns but he didn’t declare it”, it further read.

Targeting Khan’s ouster as the Prime Minister, the ECP stated, “Imran Khan being declared disqualified and unseated from his National Assembly seat. He has been disqualified under Article 63, 1(P), over submitting a false statement and declaration.”

The Toshakhana case is one of several corruption cases filed against Imran Khan. The cases have become a significant issue in the country’s politics, with many accusing the PMLN government of using them to target its opponents.
