Jamaat-e-Islami Rejects Sindh LG Polls Results, Announces To Launch Nationwide Protests

Earlier this week, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman accused the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) of rigging the second phase of local body elections and rejected the outcome of the Karachi LG polls.

As per Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman’s latest address, the final results were halted on purpose by the Returning Officers (RO)’s. Allegedly blaming the ECP and Sindh government for rigging the elections, the JI leader further stated that even the necessary forms were provided late at midnight.

Keeping a strong stance on the matter, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman after having a discussion with his party’s senior leadership has announced to launch protests all across Pakistan against the said foul results shared by the ECP.

Speaking of the recent polls, out of the 235 union committees in Karachi, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) took the lead with a total of 93 votes, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) got 86 votes, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) came third with 40 votes, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) managed to secure 7 votes, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) and independents three apiece while Tehreek-e-Labbaik (TLP) stood last with only 2 votes.

Surprisingly, Muttahida Quomi Movement (MQM) Haqiqi also got one seat.

On the serious accusations, PPP minister Saeed Ghani earlier denied any involvement in the alleged rigging of Sindh LG polls.
