In a bizarre case of crime, the Karachi police have arrested a young girl who had been stealing motorbikes from various parts of the city while impersonating to be a boy. The girl, whose identity has not been revealed, would dress up like a boy and cover her face with a cap and mask to avoid detection.
Steal in Karachi, sell in Balochistan
According to the details, the accused was identified as Samreen alias Masha and had been involved in lifting motorcycles from various parts of Karachi. The senior superintendent of police (SSP) Keamari further revealed that the girl used to sell the stolen bikes in Hub Chowki, Balochistan.
“A motorcycle that had been stolen from the limits of Darakhshan police station was also recovered from her possession. The accused was handed over to the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell for further investigation”, stated the SSP.

The police had been receiving complaints about the thefts for a while and had launched an investigation. The incident has raised questions about the state of lawlessness in the city and the need for more opportunities for women to earn a livelihood.
