Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah announced a landmark initiative to strengthen ties between Pakistan and the United States. During a meeting with Phil Ramos, Deputy Speaker of the New York State Assembly, the CM revealed plans to establish Karachi and New York as sister cities.
This strategic partnership aims to promote cultural, educational, and economic exchanges between the two metropolises. A formal sister city agreement, to be approved by both the Sindh Assembly and the New York Assembly, will pave the way for collaboration across various sectors.
The benefits of this agreement extend beyond symbolic gestures. One key outcome is the planned upgrade of a nursing college in Sindh to international standards, with support from the American Pakistani Public Affairs Committee (APPAC). This will significantly enhance healthcare training in the province.
Furthermore, the Sindh Education Department announced the launch of an online program facilitating interaction between schools in Karachi and New York. This virtual exchange initiative will allow teachers and students to share knowledge and cultural experiences, fostering global understanding.
