Karachi’s Regent Plaza Officially Handed Over To SIUT For Healthcare Expansion

The iconic Regent Plaza Hotel on Sharah-e-Faisal, Karachi, has officially been handed over to the Sindh Institute of Urology & Transplantation (SIUT).

This transition marks a significant shift, as the renowned hotel will now serve as a major healthcare facility. On Saturday evening, a banner reading “SIUT Trust Hospital” was prominently displayed on the building, signifying the change.

The purchase of Regent Plaza came to light in September last year when a letter of offer to buy the hotel for Rs.14.5 billion surfaced.

Since then, payments have been steadily made, culminating in the recent handover. Despite the visible changes, SIUT has not yet released an official statement regarding the commencement of hospital operations.

This development is anticipated to enhance healthcare services in Karachi, leveraging the strategic location and extensive space of the former hotel to provide critical medical care and advanced treatment facilities.
