A police raid conducted by the Malir task force on a Gutka factory in Orangi Town, Karachi, has sparked controversy after Rs2.5 million was reportedly stolen during the operation. Investigations have been launched, and three lady constables have been suspended in connection with the alleged theft.
The raid, led by DSP Abid Mahar on Saturday, targeted a Gutka factory operating out of a house in Moria Goth, Sector 12L. Police seized 55kg of Gutka, betel nuts, and other materials, while two suspects, Muhammad Younus (alias Noniya) and Muhammad Hussain, were arrested. A case was registered at the Orangi Town police station.
Following the raid, the family residing in the raided house claimed that Rs2.5 million, gold, and foreign currency were stolen. SSP Kashif Abbasi confirmed that Rs1.6 million was recovered during a search of two lady constables, Irum and Maira Khan, at Malir Halt. Despite further searches, the remaining money could not be located.

The suspended constables are under investigation, with departmental proceedings underway. The stolen money, reportedly saved by the family to perform Umrah, will remain in police custody until the case is resolved.
