In latest development, the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday rejected a petition seeking interim bail for former prime minister Imran Khan in cases registered against him. The plea was filed by Khan’s sister, Noreen Niazi, and was heard by Justice Farooq Haider.
Noreen’s counsel argued for interim bail in all cases against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman. However, Justice Haider ruled that the accused must appear in court to qualify for pre-arrest bail. He also cautioned against withholding case information, warning of contempt of court proceedings for any oversight by the relevant District Police Officer (DPO).
Reports submitted by the Punjab Home Department and the federal government were reviewed during the hearing. The Punjab Home Department confirmed no cases against Khan in the province. Conversely, federal government representatives disclosed that Islamabad police had registered 62 cases against the PTI leader.
Following the submission and review of reports, the court disposed of the petition. Justice Haider emphasized the importance of procedural adherence, underlining that bail could not be granted in absentia.

This decision comes on the same day the Islamabad High Court (IHC) granted Khan bail in the Toshakhana case, creating a mixed legal outcome for the former premier as he navigates numerous charges across jurisdictions.
