Lahore is gearing up to host Pakistan’s first floating restaurant, a landmark project announced by the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA). The restaurant will be built on the canal near Harbanspura, with an estimated cost of Rs 350 million. Once completed, it will offer a unique dining experience, complete with seating areas, children’s play zones, and recreational facilities.

According to PHA officials, three companies have pre-qualified for the project, and construction is expected to begin soon. The initiative promises to bring a novel attraction to the city, enhancing Lahore’s appeal as a tourist and cultural hub.

In addition, Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar announced the launch of “Pink Buses,” a dedicated public transport service for women in Lahore. Addressing the Punjab Assembly, Akbar explained that the service will include 300 buses operating across 16 routes in the city. Each route will have one to two buses exclusively for women.

The minister also revealed plans for Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems in Faisalabad, Sialkot, and Multan, aiming to improve public transportation in other cities. Between 5,000 and 6,000 buses will be allocated to each divisional headquarters.

“These initiatives reflect a commitment to both Lahore’s development and equitable progress in other regions,” Akbar said.
