LUMS Students Make History By Winning Prestigious Harvard MUN Competition

Source: The Express Tribune

In this chaotic world, a group of seven students from Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) created history by winning the prestigious Best Small Delegation award at the Harvard National Model United Nations (HNMUN) competition for the second year in a row. This feat is nothing short of inspirational and it has brought hope to the young minds in Pakistan and beyond.

Pakistani students dominate Harvard competition

The HNMUN conference is the oldest and most important Model UN gathering globally, where top universities from around the world converge to discuss global issues. Over 1500-1800 students participate, and the competition is tough.

However, the LUMS team has shown exceptional skill and determination, beating top universities like Princeton, Yale and Stanford. They have become the first team from outside America or Europe to win the Best Small Delegation award twice in a row, breaking stereotypes and inspiring others across Asia.

The LUMS team’s journey to victory was not an easy one. They had to overcome challenges like jet lag and language barriers. But they did it with a great understanding of global issues, skillful diplomacy, and teamwork. Their ability to speak well, negotiate, and defend Pakistan’s views impressed everyone and they received the crucial support of a few sponsors as well.

This win is a significant milestone for not only LUMS or Pakistan but also for all of Asia. It shows that Asian universities can compete at the highest level and motivates young people across the continent to aim high. We congratulate the LUMS team on this historic win and look forward to seeing more young people from the region make their mark globally.
