In recent news, electronic devices and mobile phones, including Indian-made iPhones, have been flagged as a severe threat to users in Pakistan and the country’s cybersecurity, according to a report by The News. The Cabinet Division has issued a formal warning to federal ministries, divisions, and provincial authorities, highlighting concerns about potential data breaches and cyber risks.

Government sources have raised alarms about the risk of Indian interference in Pakistan’s critical information systems amid ongoing geopolitical tensions. The concerns center on data monitoring, theft, and malware threats through devices and online platforms designed to resemble legitimate services, such as Apple-style portals.

Officials cautioned that Indian-made products could contain tampered hardware or software, including malware or spyware. There is also a risk of targeted cyber activities via data interception and deceptive practices, such as hackers impersonating Apple support agents or accessing websites through fake emails or messages.
