Pakistan’s National Accountability Bureau (NAB) conducted a raid on the Rawalpindi office of Bahria Town, a major property development company, on Tuesday. Sources claim the raid focused on acquiring records related to Al-Qadir Trust University.
NAB raids Bahria Town!
The anti-corruption body was joined by Punjab police and elite force personnel during the operation. This action follows an ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities surrounding land acquired by Bahria Town for its Enclave project.
Specifically, concerns have been raised about the land’s original designation for establishing a zoo. Moreover, the raid is also linked to a high-profile corruption case involving Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.
Allegedly, Imran Khan, along with others, is accused of facilitating a deal with Bahria Town that resulted in a reported £190 million loss to the Pakistani government. This deal involved recovering assets seized by the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) from the property tycoon.
