Keir Johnston, 38, from the Isle of Colonsay in Scotland, has been sentenced to jail time after admitting to a violent assault on his wife, Grace. Johnston gained notoriety in 2015 when a photo of his mother-in-law’s dress sparked a viral debate about its color – perceived as either white and gold or blue and black.

According to court documents, on March 6, 2022, Johnston attacked his wife, pinning her to the ground, strangling her with both hands and threatening to kill her. The assault occurred after Ms. Grace defied her husband’s wishes by attending a job interview.
Prosecutor Chris Macintosh stated that Ms. Grace, fearing for her life, called the police, reporting, “My husband is trying to kill me.” Johnston was then heard threatening, “Somebody is going to die.”
The prosecutor elaborated that Ms. Grace felt trapped due to the island’s lack of permanent police presence. During the attack, a witness intervened, but Johnston reportedly threatened to “finish” his wife before continuing the assault.
The Times reported the victim sustained visible bruising and marks on her neck. Police apprehended Johnston hiding with a knife under a desk, which he allegedly held to his throat before surrendering.

This case has shocked the public, as Johnston was previously known for a viral social media phenomenon, not domestic violence. The sentencing has yet to be announced, but the incident raises serious concerns about domestic abuse and the importance of seeking help.
