We have often heard the phrase “where there is a will, there is a way” right? But what if that way leads to a hidden city? Well, it does sound a bit bizarre but isn’t false at all.
Man finds an ancient city under his house
A man from Turkey found an interesting surprise after he decided to knock done a wall of his cellar for more space. Little did he know that behind the wall was lurking an entrance to a centuries-old hidden underground city.
This happened in the Nevşehir province in Turkey in 1963, the man who wants to stay anonymous initially found a tunnel that led him to another tunnel and then another until he unknowingly discovered the underground city of Derinkuyu.

20000 people used to live in the city
Reportedly, the found city is centuries old and is said to be about 18 stories deep. It was also estimated that in ancient times a total population of 20,000 used to live in Derinkuyu. Within the city, chapels, schools and stables were also found down there.
As per the experts at the Turkish Department of Culture, the Phrygians created the underground city between the 7th and 8th century BCE. The Derinkuyu is now open to the public and has become the latest tourist attraction in Turkey.
