Mark Zuckerberg Becomes World’s Second-Richest Person, Surpassing Jeff Bezos

Meta co-founder Mark Zuckerberg became the second-richest person in the world on Friday, overtaking Amazon’s chairman Jeff Bezos after a strong trading week for Meta shares, which rose more than 5%.

Zuckerberg’s estimated net worth surged to $205.4 billion, following a $3.9 billion increase, surpassing Bezos’s net worth of $203.9 billion. Currently, Zuckerberg is close behind Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, whose net worth stands at $208 billion, but still far from Elon Musk, who remains the wealthiest at $264 billion.

Meta’s stock saw a notable rise of more than 2% on Friday, closing at $595.94 after starting the week at $567.15. In related developments, other major tech stocks also saw gains, with Tesla leading the surge by over 4%.

This milestone marked Zuckerberg’s return to the No. 2 position after previously surpassing LVMH chief Bernard Arnault. Zuckerberg’s wealth is deeply tied to Meta’s performance, as he holds 345 Class A and B shares, which make up his approximate 13% stake in the company.
