Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has surged past Tesla CEO Elon Musk to claim the third spot on the list of the world’s wealthiest individuals, marking a significant shift in their standings. This development, which occurred on Friday, marks the first time since 2020 that these two titans of industry have held these respective rankings.
Elon Musk vs Mark Zuckerberg
Elon Musk, previously occupying the top position on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index as of March, saw a reversal in fortunes following reports of Tesla canceling plans for cheaper cars. Consequently, Musk’s ranking slipped to fourth place as Tesla shares experienced a decline.
The company also faced challenges with a decrease in vehicle deliveries, marking its first year-over-year drop since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, Mark Zuckerberg’s wealth soared as Meta Platforms Inc. reached new heights, culminating in a record-breaking valuation on Friday. Zuckerberg’s fortune increased by a staggering $58.9 billion this year, propelling him into Bloomberg’s top three richest individuals for the first time since November 16, 2020. During that period, he trailed slightly behind Musk, whose net worth stood at $102.1 billion.
As of now, Musk’s wealth stands at $180.6 billion while Zuckerberg’s has surged to $186.9 billion. This shift underscores the changing dynamics in the tech industry with a notable focus on big tech and artificial intelligence (AI).
