CM Maryam Nawaz Advocates AI-Based Traffic Improvement Plan For Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is now looking to the future to improve traffic flow throughout the province. She has called on the adoption of artificial intelligence to help enforce traffic rules and regulations throughout the city.

Lahore’s traffic to get an AI upgrade

During a recent meeting held to discuss ways of improving traffic flow in Lahore, CM Maryam Nawaz ordered the removal of temporary encroachments in 31 different locations. Her instructions also included engineers designing and repairing 82 sites throughout the city with a further 28 road repairs to improve traffic flow.

The CM went on to order the installation of ‘tire killers’ at 88 locations throughout the city. It is an innovative deterrent to prevent any violations of one-way traffic regulations. She also emphasized the need for digital screens to display warning messages in the event of traffic jams.

Chief Traffic Officer Ammara Athar gave the Chief Minister a comprehensive briefing on a new traffic management program. In the initial phase, an e-challan service will be launched utilizing the Safe City Authority surveillance cameras. It will enforce regulations regarding motorcycle helmet usage and seat belt compliance in vehicles.

These measures are aimed at making the roads safer for all commuters and will help to ensure a smoother flow of traffic. With the adoption of AI technology, it is expected that these changes will help in reducing traffic congestion and improve safety for the citizens.
