Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has taken notice of an alleged domestic violence case involving TV anchor Ayesha Jahanzeb. An FIR was filed last week at Lahore’s Sarwar Road police station, detailing the abuse Jahanzeb reportedly suffered at the hands of her husband, Haris Ali.
According to the FIR, Ayesha Jahanzeb’s husband has been abusive and violent throughout their marriage. Last month, he allegedly threatened to kill her while beating her.
Last week, the situation escalated when he came home, assaulted her, and dragged her to the house’s gate. He then pointed a gun at her head and threatened to kill her. Their two daughters tried to intervene, and Jahanzeb’s driver and electrician diffused the situation. Haris Ali eventually fled, brandishing his gun.
