Moeen Ali’s return comes as a replacement for Jack Leach, who unfortunately sustained a low back stress fracture. The 35-year-old all-rounder retired from Test cricket at the conclusion of the 2021 summer season.

However, after discussions with captain Ben Stokes, head coach Brendon McCullum, and Managing Director Rob Key, Ali decided to reverse his decision and make himself available for selection once again.
