The mosquito nets valued at Rs 300 million have been stolen from a government warehouse in Quetta. The 368,000 nets, donated by international organizations, were intended for distribution in three districts of Balochistan.
The theft was uncovered by an NGO, which alerted authorities. A team from the Central Management Unit (CMU) has arrived in Quetta to investigate the incident, but there are concerns that efforts are being made to cover up the theft, sources within the health ministry revealed.
This incident follows a similar case in Sindh, where thousands of metric tons of wheat mysteriously vanished from government warehouses. Over 13,000 metric tons of wheat, valued at Rs 7 crores, disappeared from eight warehouses in Nowshera Feroze, prompting the formation of an investigative committee.

The thefts raise serious concerns about the security and management of government resources, particularly those intended for the public’s welfare. Investigations are ongoing in both cases to hold those responsible accountable.
