Reliance Industries, led by Mukesh Ambani is all set to launch its first-ever ChatGPT-style service in India next month.
The service is being developed by the BharatGPT group, which is a consortium of eight Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in collaboration with Reliance Jio Infocomm and the Indian government. The AI model is named ‘Hanooman’ and is being developed to offer speech-to-text capabilities in 11 local languages.
Hanooman: India’s answer to Siri and Alexa?
The model is highly anticipated as it promises to revolutionize four key sectors: healthcare, governance, financial services and education. The model was recently showcased at a technology conference in Mumbai. At the event, it displayed its capabilities by conversing with users in various local languages such as Tamil and Hindi.
The BharatGPT group aims to develop an indigenous AI model, made to cater to the specific needs of the Indian market. Hanooman will be a breakthrough in this direction and will offer natural-sounding responses generated by learning from vast quantities of data.
Reliance Jio plans to build customized models for specific uses. The group is already working on ‘Jio Brain’; a platform to use AI across a network of about 450 million subscribers.
