Muslims Are The Most Satisfied With Their Lives Compared To Other Religions: German Study

A new study conducted by the University of Mannheim in Germany has shed light on the connection between a sense of oneness and overall life satisfaction. The research, led by psychologist Laura Marie Edinger-Schons, found that people who hold a stronger belief in oneness, the idea that everything in the world is interconnected, tend to report higher levels of life satisfaction.

Interestingly, the study further revealed that Muslims, as a group, displayed the highest average scores in oneness beliefs compared to followers of other religions and atheists.

While the research didn’t specifically target religious affiliations, the results showed a correlation between these beliefs and life satisfaction, even when religious background was taken into account.

The study surveyed over 74,000 participants in Germany. A smaller group of over 7,000 provided detailed information on their concepts of oneness, including empathy, social connectedness, and their relationship with nature. The larger group, exceeding 67,500 participants, included individuals from various religions and non-religious backgrounds.

Edinger-Schons’ findings suggest that a stronger sense of oneness not only contributes to greater life satisfaction but may also offer additional benefits. The study linked higher oneness scores to improved academic performance in young people and better health outcomes in older adults.
