The Nipah virus has once again cast a shadow of concern over Kerala, southern India, claiming the lives of two individuals and triggering urgent measures to contain the outbreak. Kerala’s Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, confirmed the presence of the virus in the Kozhikode district and issued a plea to residents, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the health department’s safety protocols. This marks the state’s fourth encounter with the Nipah virus since 2018, highlighting the region’s vulnerability to such outbreaks.
