The Lahore High Court (LHC) has taken a significant step by directing the Punjab chief secretary (CS) to provide a response concerning a petition that challenges a proposed project involving a Rs.400 million flag installation.
An IMF tale
In a session presided over by LHC judge Justice Raheel Kamran, a citizen named Aamir Sikandar presented the petition, prompting the judge to request a comprehensive report from the CS. The petitioner’s legal representative contended that the nation was grappling with financial constraints, necessitating loans from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and friendly nations.
In this context, it was highlighted that the Punjab caretaker government had earmarked a substantial amount – a staggering Rs400 million – for the purpose of erecting a national flag at Liberty Market on the forthcoming Independence Day.
