Pakistan is about to take a giant leap for mankind…well, a tiny leap anyway. The country is gearing up to launch its very own satellite, the ICUBE-Qamar (ICUBE-Q), to the moon as part of China’s upcoming Chang’e 6 mission.

Small satellite, big mission!

This isn’t your average satellite launch. Scheduled for the first week of May, the Chang’e 6 mission aims for a daring lunar sample collection from the far side of the moon. ICUBE-Q, a CubeSat – a miniaturized satellite – will be nestled amongst other payloads from countries like France, Italy and the European Space Agency.

This collaboration marks a significant step forward for Pakistan’s space ambitions. Beyond the symbolic achievement, ICUBE-Q represents Pakistan’s growing capabilities in space exploration.

The nation is actively researching environmentally resilient seeds for space travel and exploring partnerships with China, potentially involving the Tiangong space station and a future lunar base.
