Pakistan Projected To Become Most Populous Muslim Nation By 2048: UN Report

A new report by the United Nations predicts a significant population surge in Pakistan, placing it on track to become the world’s most populous Muslim-majority country by 2048.

The UN’s World Population Prospects 2024 report forecasts Pakistan’s population to surpass Indonesia’s within the next 24 years, reaching an estimated 331 million by 2048. This growth trajectory is expected to continue, with Pakistan’s population potentially peaking at over 400 million by 2092.

Experts attribute this rapid growth to Pakistan’s high birth rate and low contraception use. However, this trend raises concerns about straining essential resources and infrastructure in areas like water, sanitation, education, and healthcare.

The UN report highlights the need for effective population planning strategies to address these challenges and ensure sustainable development for Pakistan’s growing population.
