Despite this shift, Indonesia’s Religious Affairs Minister, Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, emphasized that the focus should be on the “quality” of Muslim practice, not simply on numbers. He expressed confidence that this transition will not negatively impact Indonesia, particularly regarding the Hajj pilgrimage quota.

Meanwhile, the Ministry’s Director General of Islamic Community Guidance, Kamaruddin Amin, highlighted projections suggesting Islam might become the world’s dominant religion in the coming years. Amin suggests that Islam’s growing attractiveness stems from its increasingly significant role in people’s lives across various regions.
