Pakistani athlete and journalist Mona Khan has been released from prison in Greece, she announced on Sunday. Khan was detained by Greek authorities at a checkpoint on Friday afternoon while en route to Mount Olympus with a team of climbers.

During a routine passport check, officials took Mona Khan into custody for further investigation, eventually leading to her imprisonment. The Pakistani Foreign Office confirmed on Saturday that its mission was actively engaged with Greek authorities to resolve the matter.
According to her coach, Muhammad Yousuf, Khan was taken into custody by Greek police after displaying the Pakistani flag. An audio clip circulating online suggests Khan alleges mistreatment by the authorities. Yousuf further states that Khan was also carrying a flag inscribed with the Islamic declaration of faith, the Kalma Tayyaba.
However, the efforts proved successful, culminating in Khan’s release. Khan, known for her achievements in both sports and journalism, expressed relief upon her release. Details surrounding her initial detention remain unclear, but her return to freedom marks a positive outcome for her and her supporters.

In a separate incident, Karachi journalist Nasrullah Gadani passed away after being critically injured in a recent gun attack. The attack occurred near Mirpur Mathelo, Ghotki district, while Gadani was traveling to the local Press Club. Authorities are investigating the motive and searching for the assailants.
