The Pakistan cricket team has significantly reduced public interactions in the United States following an incident involving fast bowler Haris Rauf.
The move comes after Pakistan’s disappointing exit from the T20 World Cup 2024. Notably, captain Babar Azam and star all-rounder Shadab Khan have been among those limiting their contact with fans.
This decision follows a widely circulated video capturing Rauf confronting a fan who allegedly made negative remarks about him. Rauf, accompanied by his wife, appeared visibly upset and approached the fan despite efforts to intervene.
Rauf later defended his actions on social media, stating that while criticism from fans is a part of the game, respecting players’ families is paramount. His teammates have expressed support, acknowledging fans’ right to criticize but emphasizing the need for respect.

This incident comes amidst lingering frustration for some fans following Pakistan’s narrow loss to the US in a Super Over. Rauf faced criticism for conceding 15 runs in the final over, which ultimately contributed to the defeat.
