In a heartwarming story that transcends borders, a 19-year-old Pakistani girl named Ayesha Rashid has been given a second chance at life thanks to a heart transplant from India. Ayesha, who has battled heart disease for a decade, received life-saving surgery at MGM Healthcare in Chennai after her condition worsened.

Fashion dreams bloom with new heart!

Ayesha Rashid’s journey began in 2014 when doctors implanted a heart pump to support her failing heart. However, as the years passed, the device proved insufficient. With her health deteriorating rapidly, Ayesha’s family sought help from Dr. KR Balakrishnan and Dr. Suresh Rao, renowned heart transplant specialists at MGM Healthcare.

Hope seemed to dwindle when the transplant, estimated to cost around Rs.35 lakh, appeared beyond the family’s means. However, the dedicated medical team at MGM stepped in, connecting Ayesha’s family with the Aishwaryam Trust, a charitable organization that provided financial assistance.

Six months ago, a heart from a generous donor in Delhi became available and Ayesha underwent a successful transplant surgery, performed free of charge at MGM Healthcare. After an 18-month stay in India, Ayesha is now brimming with newfound energy and dreams of pursuing a career in fashion design.

“To be frank, Pakistan has no good medical facilities when compared to India”, Ayesha’s mother, Sanobar, shared with gratitude. “I feel India is very friendly… I thank India and the doctors for the treatment.”
