In a landmark judgment, an Accountability Court convicted former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, in the £190 million case.

Announced by Judge Nasir Javed Rana within Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, where Khan had already been detained for over a year, the ruling sentenced Khan to 14 years in prison and Bushra Bibi to seven years.

Alongside the prison terms, fines were imposed: Rs.1 million on Khan and Rs.500,000 on Bushra Bibi. Non-payment could extend their imprisonment by six and three months, respectively.

The court also ordered the forfeiture of the Al-Qadir University Project Trust’s property, declaring it a “sham trust” under Section 10(a) of the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999. The judgment was delivered amid tight security outside the jail premises.

Bushra Bibi was taken into custody immediately after the verdict. Calling the decision politically motivated, the PTI leadership has announced to challenge the verdict and the conviction of Imran Khan and his wife in the £190 million case.
