From time to time, Pakistan’s persistent economic issues have caught the attention of foreign educational institutions. According to details, a case study titled “Pakistan at 75: When Will the ‘Nazuk Mor’ End?” will be taught at Harvard Business School in the spring of 2024.
A must-read for business students?
The phrase “Nazuk Mor” is frequently used during political campaigns in Pakistan to describe the country’s persistent problems with political instability, boom-and-bust economic cycles, high inflation, loss-making state-owned entities and bailouts from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Despite being 77 years old, the country is still struggling to overcome its challenges.
To tackle such challenges, PM Shehbaz Sharif’s government has approached the IMF to avert potential default. Recently, Pakistan and the IMF reached a staff-level agreement on the second and last review of the $3 billion SBA. If approved by the IMF’s board, this agreement will release about $1.1 billion to Pakistan.
