Palestinian Photojournalist Evacuates From Gaza After 108 Days Under Israeli Siege

Motaz Azaiza, a young Palestinian journalist who gained a massive following for documenting Israel’s ongoing assault, has at last evacuated from Gaza, a decision that comes as the situation in the enclave grows more dire by the day, especially for the members of the press.

The 24-year-old posted a reel on Instagram earlier this week that he was leaving the besieged Gaza Strip before boarding a Qatari military airplane at Egypt’s El Arish International Airport. However, it is unclear how he was able to leave Gaza or why he has left.

Reporting in the most difficult conditions

Motaz Azaiza captured the attention of millions globally as he filmed himself in a press vest and helmet to document conditions during the Israel-Hamas war, which has reportedly killed more than 25,000 people in Gaza.

In his last social media post, Motaz Azaiza while boarding the plane said, “I had to evacuate for a lot of reasons you all know some of it but not all of it”. He further revealed that it was his first time on a plane heading to Qatar. Later, he even showed the inside of the plane as it landed at Doha International Airport.
