The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced today that selectors Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq have been removed from their positions following the national team’s underwhelming performance in the recent T20 World Cup.
This move came after Pakistan’s early exit from the tournament, which included a defeat to debutants in the United States.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who had previously promised significant changes in response to the team’s showing, indicated a desire to look beyond the current player pool and implement a more comprehensive overhaul.

“We need to now start looking at players beyond those in the team right now”, he was quoted as saying. The departures of Riaz and Razzaq mark the PCB’s first concrete steps towards “major surgery” in the team’s selection process in the wake of the World Cup disappointment.
