PCB Issues Show Cause Notice to Fakhar Zaman for Social Media Post Defending Babar Azam

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued a show cause notice to Fakhar Zaman, a centrally contracted player, for allegedly breaching the players’ code of conduct. The notice comes after Fakhar publicly criticized the board’s decision to drop Babar Azam from the squad for the second and third Test matches against England.

In his social media post, Fakhar referenced Indian cricketer Virat Kohli’s support during his rough patch to defend Babar’s inclusion.

Fakhar wrote, “It’s concerning to hear suggestions about dropping Babar Azam. India didn’t bench Virat Kohli during his slump, and we should focus on safeguarding our key players rather than sidelining them.”

The PCB informed Fakhar that his comments violated the terms of his contract, asking him to submit a response by October 21. The board stood by its decision, stating that players like Babar, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Sarfaraz Ahmed were rested for the remaining Tests to ensure they return refreshed.
