Fuel Unavailable: Petrol Pumps Across Punjab Run Dry Due To ‘Fuel Shortage’

After facing an immense shortage of gas during the winter season, now, Pakistanis are facing a fuel shortage making it even more difficult to survive in these harsh times.

Punjab runs out of petrol

As per the latest details, a large number of petrol pumps located in the Punjab area have been shut down for an indefinite period of time due to fuel shortage. However, long queues can be seen on the ones operating and it seems like they’ll also run out of petrol in the coming days.

The situation is getting worse day by day, affecting main cities including Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala and Sahiwal. The reason behind this is alleged to be the squeezed supply from the oil marketing companies (OMC)’s.

PPDA’s statement on the matter

Speaking on the matter, Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association’s secretary of information Khawaja Atif shared the number of petrol pumps affected the most –  “In Lahore, around 70 of the total 450 pumps are dry. The areas where the pumps are closed due to a shortage of petrol include Shahdra, Wagah, Litton Road and Jain Mandar. In Gujranwala, around 70 percent of pumps had no petrol due to short supplies from the OMCs.”
