Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will travel to Tehran on July 30 to attend the inauguration of Iran’s new president-elect, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian. This visit highlights the strong ties and ongoing cooperation between Pakistan and Iran.
Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch announced the trip during a press briefing. Dr. Pezeshkian, a 69-year-old cardiac surgeon, won the presidential run-off election earlier this month after President Ebrahim Raisi’s death in a helicopter crash in May.

PM Sharif’s visit, at the invitation of Iranian Speaker Muhammad Baghir Ghalibaf, underscores the importance of high-level engagement between the two countries. Both President Asif Ali Zardari and PM Sharif have congratulated Pezeshkian, highlighting the enduring and friendly relationship between Pakistan and Iran.
