PMD Predicts Heavy Rain, Thunderstorm In Karachi During Eid-ul-Fitr Holidays

Karachi gears up for an unexpected Eid ul Fitr weather twist as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts rain, wind and thunderstorms during the festive holidays.

In a recent forecast, the Met Office hinted at a westerly wave making its grand entrance into the upper regions of Pakistan from April 10, with another robust wave following suit on April 12. By April 13, most parts of the country are expected to be engulfed in this atmospheric spectacle which could linger until April 15.

While Karachi and Hyderabad are set to experience isolated rain accompanied by winds and thunderstorms, adding a dramatic flair to the holiday atmosphere. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Balochistan, Sindh, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir won’t be spared either with showers expected across various regions from April 10 to 15.

In some areas, heavy rainfall and hailstorms could make a cameo appearance from April 13 to 15, posing potential risks of flash floods and landslides. The PMD isn’t mincing words either, cautioning tourists to reconsider travel plans during this soggy spell and advising authorities to stay vigilant and proactive.
