PML-N’s Shehbaz Sharif Elected As The 24th Prime Minister Of Pakistan

Earlier today, Shehbaz Sharif, following his election as the 24th premier of Pakistan pledged to navigate the nation “back to shore” with the support of allied parties during his second term in office.

Shehbaz Sharif’s victory came on Sunday, garnering 201 votes in the prime ministerial election, surpassing his opponent Omar Ayub Khan from the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) who secured 92 votes with the backing of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

The moment of triumph was marked by an embrace between Shehbaz and his elder brother, Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), who had initially been anticipated to assume the prime ministership after the February 8 elections. However, Nawaz Sharif chose to step aside for unspecified reasons, clearing the path for his brother to take the helm.
