On Monday night, Islamabad police arrested several key PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) leaders, including Barrister Gohar, Sher Afzal Khan Marwat, and Shoaib Shaheen, outside the Parliament. Islamabad police spokesperson Jawad Taqi confirmed the arrests.
Zulfi Bukhari, another prominent PTI leader, condemned the arrests and demanded their immediate release. He emphasized the unjust nature of these detentions and criticized the authorities for targeting PTI members.
According to official media reports, Marwat, in particular, has been arrested due to his involvement in multiple legal cases. However, police officers refrained from making any official statements regarding Marwat’s whereabouts after his arrest, raising concerns about his safety and the transparency of the process.

These arrests come just after PTI’s highly anticipated rally in Islamabad on September 8, which had placed party leaders under heightened scrutiny. The detentions have added further tension to the political landscape, with PTI leaders increasingly finding themselves at odds with law enforcement.
The party’s supporters and leadership continue to protest against what they view as political victimization.
