Public Holiday Declared In Sindh Tomorrow For Urs Of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar

In latest development, the Sindh government has officially declared February 19 (Wednesday) as a public holiday in observance of the Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar. This annual event, which holds immense spiritual and cultural significance, attracts thousands of devotees from across the country to the revered shrine in Sehwan Sharif.

As per the notification issued by the Services, General Administration, and Coordination Department, all government and semi-government offices, schools, and colleges will remain closed tomorrow.

The Urs celebrations will feature various cultural and religious activities, including a literary conference, traditional Sindhi wrestling (Malakhro), and the vibrant Dhamal dance, which is an iconic tribute to the Sufi saint.

To ensure the smooth facilitation of visitors, the provincial government has set up support centers at the shrine. The event, held annually from Shaban 18 to 20, is one of the largest religious gatherings in the region, drawing devotees from Sindh, Punjab, and beyond.

With extensive security arrangements in place, the devotees can now participate in the festivities with greater peace of mind.
