Highlighting the universal values of peace, non-violence, and courage espoused by all religions, Gandhi stated, “Even in Islam, in the Holy Quran, it is written.” He then quoted Surah Taha, verse 46: “Have no fear! I am with you, hearing and seeing.”

Gandhi’s speech also featured placards showing images and messages reflecting the core teachings of various religions. This move aimed to underline his point about the shared principles of faith traditions. However, his actions prompted an uproar from the government benches, showcasing the deep-seated tensions within the parliamentary proceedings.
