Pakistanis struggling under the intense heatwave can finally expect some relief. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted a shift in weather patterns, bringing rain and thunderstorms to parts of the country starting May 28th.

The statement issued by the PMD details the expected weather changes for various regions such as; Upper Pakistan: Duststorms, thunderstorms, and isolated rain are expected in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Gilgit-Baltistan, and Islamabad from May 28th to June 1st. This will significantly reduce the severity of the heatwave in these areas.

Karachi and Sindh: While central and southern Pakistan will experience heatwave-like conditions, Karachi and other coastal areas can anticipate dust storms with strong winds on May 28th and 29th.

The PMD advises farmers to manage their crops accordingly during this period. They also warn of potential disruptions to daily routines, damage to standing crops, and loose structures due to dust storms and strong winds.

Despite the rain in the north, heatwave conditions are likely to persist in central and southern Pakistan, albeit with slightly lower temperatures. People in these areas are advised to minimize exposure to direct sunlight and stay hydrated.

The PMD urges authorities to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to manage the changing weather conditions and any potential hazards.
