In a groundbreaking medical feat, the selfless act of a young man from Rawalpindi has breathed new life into seven individuals through an unparalleled organ transplant procedure. Uzair bin Yasin, a beloved figure in his community, tragically passed away at the age of 36, but his legacy now thrives through the vital organs he donated.
One donor, seven lives saved
Uzair bin Yasin, a proprietor of a cosmetic store was rushed to CMH Hospital when his health abruptly deteriorated, ultimately leading to the loss of brain function. Despite the devastating prognosis, his family, including his sisters Dr. Seema and Dr. Sadaf, along with sister-in-law Faiza Hussain made the courageous decision to donate his organs upon his passing.
Under the skilled hands of medical experts at Bahria Safari Hospital and Pakistan Institute of Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI) Lahore, Uzair’s kidneys, liver, pancreas and eyes were safely harvested and transplanted into recipients in dire need.
Raja Ali Riaz and Zainab Imtiaz are among the beneficiaries who have been freed from the clutches of kidney failure. Seven-year-old Hamdan from Kohat has also been given a new chance at life through a successful liver transplant. Furthermore, Uzair’s liver donation has helped alleviate Hasnain Ahmed’s struggle with complications related to diabetes.

The selfless acts of Uzair have had a profound impact that extends far beyond the operating rooms. His wife, daughter, mother and siblings have all found comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on through the recipients of his generosity. Faisal Rafiq, Uzair’s cousin, expressed deep gratitude and affirmed that Uzair’s legacy of compassion endures through the lives he has saved.
Dr. Saim bin Saeed, Deputy Assistant Administrator at Bahria Safari Hospital, praised the transplant as a landmark moment in Pakistan’s medical field. She further emphasized the exceptional power of organ donation and the endless benefits it brings to humanity.
