Source: Dawn

The female camel Kemi, whose leg was brutally chopped off by a landlord in Sindh’s Sanghar district, has shown remarkable improvement in her health. The Animal Shelter Home where Kemi is receiving treatment confirmed that she stood on her three legs for the first time since the incident.

Over the past few weeks, Kemi has been receiving massages and physical therapy, which have greatly aided her recovery. The shelter’s management added that her injured leg is being treated daily with proper dressing and bandaging.

The incident occurred in Mund Jamrao village when a landlord mutilated Kemi for scavenging in his field. The camel’s owner, Soomer Khan, expressed his confusion and distress over the attack, stating he had no enmity with anyone.

The Sanghar SSP took notice of the incident after a video of Kemi went viral on social media, leading to an FIR against unknown persons under sections 429 and 34 PPC. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah also took notice, and plans are underway to provide Kemi with an artificial leg.

Earlier, six suspects were granted bail by an Additional Sessions Judge, with two confessing to the crime. The case is set for further hearing on July 21.
